I have been working in animal rescue for 25 years and always found myself gravitating to the rescue pups that needed the most training, special care and understanding. I am a Certified Canine Trainer and Behavior Specialist, as well as a Certified Advanced Canine Training Professional, combining my life experience with the scientific study of canine behavior to help dogs transform into their full potential. At With a Heart Canine Care, we will work with you to develop the plan that will fit your dog's needs the best.
We believe in training with the 3 C's: Compassion, Consistency and Commitment and only with positive reinforcement.
We do not use tools such as prong, choke or e-collars in our training methods.
We take the time to assess all of the influencing factors that shape your dog’s behavior and personality. From nutrition to daily routine, every detail plays a role in your dog's behavior! Working with you, a detailed and personalized training plan will be developed; beginning with the basics and often utilizing outside-of-the box methods to alleviate challenges and overcome issues.
Bringing a new dog into your home can be challenging, especially if you have chosen to adopt a shelter or rescue pup. Many behavior challenges with rescued dogs stem from a lack of training, understanding or even abuse or neglect in their previous environment. But all is not lost! While rescues often take more time to come into their own, we promise, they are worth the wait! We can provide you with the right tools to help ensure a successful and fulfilling transition from shelter life to family life!
Some of the common challenges we can address include, but are not limited to: Adoption or Relocation transition; Reactivity to people/animals; Leash walking; Crate reactivity; Separation anxiety; Fear/phobias; Car rides; Vet visits; Resource guarding and more!
Aggression cases will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
All dogs are not the same, so why should their training be? We design our training plans with Compassion and your Consistency and Commitment will ensure a positive behavior modification, strengthening your bond with your dog!
